Redefining Outdoor Living

Source: Boston Design Guide

When a neighboring plot became available, our client looked to convert the space into a landscape that would align with their healthy lifestyle. The new sport court was added with viewing overlooks, a vegetable garden and edible plants creating a wooded landscape with pathways that weave through the different spaces.

One of the main challenges of the site, linking two properties across a significant topographic change, was used to the design’s advantage by creating informal overlooks of both the new sport court and the play lawn. The transition between the upper and lower property and internal spaces, allowed for the use of vegetation to soften surfaces and reinforce each uniquely.

Inside the sport court, durable, heat tolerant plants were chosen, like Salix purpurea ‘Nana’, Hibiscus syriacus, Calaminta nepeta and various Sedums.
