The Learning Commons was designed to strengthen the visual and pedestrian connection to the main campus quadrangle. An important element to the success of the project included a rain garden which highlights stormwater management and also contributed to the building’s LEED certification. The paving materials and plantings were carefully selected to integrate the contemporary architecture of the Learning Commons with the adjacent traditional architecture. Careful attention was paid to selecting high quality materials and low-maintenance plants to protect the college’s investment and ensure the new Learning Commons will be the center of student learning for years to come.
