Highlighting the beauty and resiliency of Cambridge’s unique urban ecologies, the Annex landscape carefully responds to the civic nature of City Hall, while still accommodating universal access for staff and visitors as well as reducing the overall ecological footprint. This philosophy is manifest by the tree-lined, gradually sloping walkways at the building’s entry, lush rain gardens, generous seating opportunities, and smooth, uninterrupted surfaces for pedestrian travel.
