Historic New England’s fall fundraiser, Raise the Roof, generated more than $182,000 toward roof repair work at ten Historic New England properties in three states. 150 guests gathered at the Lyman Estate in Waltham, Massachusetts, for a festive afternoon of BBQ, live bluegrass from the band Four Bridges, cider, carnival games, and lots of seasonal fun. Shacksbury provided their “daring and complex” hard cider, Valley View Farm did pairings with local cheeses such as Topsfield Chevre and Pingree Hill Tomme, and Wilson Farm offered fresh local apple cider and cider donuts. Our thanks to Historic New England trustees Sidney Kenyon and Gregory Lombardi, who co-chaired the event; The Lagasse Group, Custom Builders, the lead sponsor; and many other sponsors, donors and attendees.
